Honduras is in a struggle for justice and human rights not seen in Central America since the 1980s. At that time Washington used Honduran territory to support violent regimes in Guatemala and El Salvador and to fight a covert war against the new revolutionary Nicaragua. U.S intervention was framed then as a war against communism.

Today, with frightening echoes of the past, U.S. policy is supporting corrupt and violent Honduran security forces, now in the name of the war on drugs. This two-country delegation will look at current realities in Honduras and Nicaragua, explore the legacy of the 1980s, and develop creative responses for seeking justice and peace.
