INNOVATION IN CUBA – Youth Delegation

June 12 - June 21

This 10-day Witness for Peace Youth Delegation will give students ages 15-19 the opportunity to witness and engage with the complexity, excitement, and innovation taking place in Cuba. Students will stay at the internationally-renowned Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Havana.

Deadline: Applications and $150 deposit due: April 12, 2018. Remainder of balance ($1,750) due: May 12, 2018.

Cost: $1,900

*Price includes: All meals, lodging, facilitation, interpretation, & transportation within Cuba, along with extensive activist tools.

*Price doesn’t include: passport costs, international airfare, and personal incidentals.

What to Expect

  • Meet and discuss with Cuban community leaders,  journalists, and diplomats.
  • Explore the policy relationship between the US and Cuba and its effect on ordinary Cubans.
  • Visit historical sites such as Plaza de la Revolución and Museo de la Revolución.
  • Engage with Cuban youth through community exchanges.

Example Day

8:00 am – Breakfast at MLK Center

9:00 am – Scavenger Hunt in the neighborhood Vedado

11:00 am – Visit community art project to discuss the evolution of Cuban culture and Afro-Cuban religions

12:30 pm – Lunch at a privately-owned restaurant

02:00 pm – Participate in youth exchange involved in the community art project

05:00 pm – Meet and discuss with a native Cuban journalist

06:30 pm – Dinner at MLK Center
