This delegation will strive to ask certain questions about peace in Colombia: Can peace be achieved without women, Afro-Colombian, and Indigenous communities being integrally involved? How do grassroots social movements  challenge the bilateral model? Delegates on this trip will witness the ways in which Colombian women are building peace in their communities, and are resisting the current military and free trade policies through food sovereignty initiatives.

Participants on this delegation will:

  • Meet with a wide range of Colombians including community leaders and growers, displaced persons, and human rights defenders
  • Explore the connections between food sovereignty, free trade, and corporate policies
  • Discover the impacts the U.S. policies have on Colombian women and farmers
