Come learn in person about the Cuban Revolution’s many breakthroughs in public health, international solidarity, education, food sovereignty, and popular art despite the U.S. embargo’s impact on the island. This delegation will pay special attention to the relationship between Cuba’s strong national identity and the Revolution’s internationalism—for example, how Cuba sends doctors on missions abroad and receives international medical students and patients in order to share the benefits of the Cuban healthcare system. We will also explore the process behind Cuba becoming a world leader in ecological agriculture as well as the Revolution’s prioritization of popular access to creating and enjoying art.
What to expect:
- Learn about U.S. imperialism’s long efforts to restrict Cuba’s attempt at building an alternative model of development
- Meet directly with Cuban citizens, artists, scholars, students and participants in international missions;
- Visit museums and tour different governmental projects in order to understand how Cuba uniquely operates within the global community
- Take trips outside of Havana and hear about rural Cubans’ experience with the Revolution
