Witness for Peace Northwest presents our 2012 fall speaking tour with Cuban activist Daisy Rojas
Witness for Peace Northwest is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a speaking tour with Daisy Rojas, a Cuban social justice activist and organizer who is a founding member of the Martin Luther King Jr Center in Havana.
Daisy will be traveling throughout Washington and Oregon speaking about what daily life is like as a Cuban citizen under the U.S. economic embargo and travel ban and steps that we can take in the U.S. to act in solidarity with Cubans. Daisy's presentation, "From Che to Castro: Building Bridges with 21st Century Cuba" will be interactive and informative and will include an opportunity for people to ask questions. Her work with the MLK Center includes popular education in the Freire model, organizing with communities of faith, and solidarity work with international delegations.
Below is a list of confirmed events for Daisy's time in the Northwest. Some events are still being finalized and there is still some room in the schedule if you are interested in hosting an event, interview, or meeting with Daisy. Please contact Amy Truax at 206.787.0657 or email@example.com to schedule or for more information. All events are open to the public unless otherwise specified.
